This year BIPO’s traditional “marathon” series will be including Prokofiev. Thus the audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy Volodin’s performance two nights in a row. Alexei Volodin, who masterfully integrates his cultural bond with the composer to his musical rendition, has become a favourite of the world’s most prominent orchestras especially for his command of his motherland Russia’s piano repertoire and his subtle interpretation. Volodin has received high praise at the Beethoven Piano Concertos Marathon with Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra in St. Petersburg in 2015. During the first of his concerts with BIPO, Volodin will be performing three concertos by one of the unique 20th century Russian composers, Sergei Prokofiev.
