Berlin-based Alcalica is warm and frank band that blends traditional instruments with world music. All the interactions in the universe of music become part of their music. And they are coming to Borusan Music House to offer a glimpse of it.

From Berlin, the political and artistic center of Europe, to Mytilene at the edge of the continent, where humanity is challenged, where the enlightenment of a “we stay in Europe” is colliding with harsh reality... Such is Alcalica’s journey in the last ten years, punctuated by eclectic collaborations, 6 vinyl albums and appearances at major festivals. The journey of an acrobat playing with borders, proving de facto that borders exist precisely to be overcome: civilizations and traditions meet, fuse and interact. Alcalica’s music abolishes several pseudo-dilemmas such as “East-West”. It resolutely brings into equitable dialog the baglamas and the santoor with contemporary electronics, the aptaliko of Mytilene and the interwar rembetiko with drum’n’bass and urban industrial. Their glance does not look back at the roots, it looks forward, at the branches of the tree which keep on developing and growing.
