The Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra’s (BIPO) album Bartók, Enescu, Kodály, Martinů, conducted by Carlo Tenan, has been nominated for the German Record Critics’ Award.

The German Record Critics’ Award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik) has been presented since 1963 by Germany’s most distinguished and long-established association of music critics. Comprising more than 150 distinguished jurors, the award recognises outstanding recordings across a wide range of genres — from classical and jazz to contemporary music — through a meticulous, year-round evaluation process.

The currently 152 jurors have nominated a total of 260 new publications from the last quarter in 32 categories, which are eligible for the next Quarterly Critic’s Choice. BIPO’s recent recording on the Onyx label has been included among the nominees in the Orchestral Music category.

The album features Dance Suite, Sz. 77 by Béla Bartók, The Frescoes of Piero della Francesca by Bohuslav Martinů, Galántai táncok (Dances of Galánta) by Zoltán Kodály and 2 Romanian Rhapsodies, op.11, no.1 by George Enescu.
