New Member Of The Borusan Quartet: Poyraz Baltacıgil

Dear Esteemed Audience,

Poyraz Baltacıgil, who holds a position of the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra and the Istanbul State Symphonic Orchestra, has been assigned to the violoncello of the Borusan Quartet.  

He began his cello education in 2000 with Hakkı Öztürk at Istanbul University State Conservatory and continued his training from 2005 to 2015 with Dilbağ Tokay at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Istanbul State Conservatory. Between 2015 and 2017, he pursued his master's education with the French cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in Germany.

Baltacıgil has won prizes at "International Competition Young Virtuosos" in Bulgaria (2011) and Benyamin Sönmez National Cello Competition in Fethiye (2014). Also, he has been selected “The Best Young Musician of the Year 2016” by Andante Classical Music Magazine.
