BIPO dedicates its first live radio concert in November to our fellow citizens who have lost their lives in the İzmir earthquake, which has devastated us all, and to the rescue teams searching for survivors in the rubble. For this concert, Valentina Lisitsa, one of the most acclaimed and beloved pianists of the present day, will take the BIPO audience to the early years of the romantic period, which is her area of expertise. The programme will continue with Beethoven’s spirit moving from the piano on to the violin with two of the composer’s Romances performed by Naz İrem Türkmen. Under the direction of Gürer Aykal, BIPO’s closing performance of the night will be of Symphony No. 2, a turn of the century work written by Beethoven during the Heiligenstadt years.
