BIPO will host cellist Camille Thomas at its first concert in February with selections from the masters of classical music. Thomas is a star performer who has studied at prominent centres of music such as Paris, Berlin and Weimar, and performed with distinguished orchestras in Europe, especially in France and Belgium. Despite her very busy concert programme, Thomas also sets aside time to records successful albums. For this concert, Camille Thomas will perform Robert Schumann’s precious addition to the concerto repertoire, Violoncello Concerto in A minor, with her ‘Feuermann’ 1730 Stradivarius. Our honorary conductor Gürer Aykal will be conducting BIPO. The concert will begin with Demet, subtitled Turkish Folk Songs and Traditional Dance Music for Strings, a work by our esteemed composer and instructor Muammer Sun, who we lost last month. Sun’s contributions to the production and education of contemporary music in Turkey have been invaluable and irreplaceable. The concert will live stream on Thursday, February 4th at 14.00 (GMT+3) on Borusan Klasik...
