The magnificent harmony of soprano and orchestra come together with opera overtures and arias. BIPO will be with you at this concert with a programme of works by Mozart, Verdi and Rossini. Fatma Said will meet with BIPO’s audience as the night’s soloist. Said went from her birthplace, Cairo, to the Academy of Milan’s Teatro alla Scala when she was selected as one of BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists when she was only 14 years old. During her career journey from Italy to England and from there to Germany, Said received great acclaim by playing the leading roles in operatic masterpieces. In addition to the Dublin, Zwickhau and Guillo Perotti competitions, she was awarded the first prize in the Leyla Gencer International Voice Competition in 2012. In this magnificent concert, BIPO, under the direction of conductor Carlo Tenan, will also perform the symphonic poem Pini di Roma (The Pines of Rome), one of the most beloved works of Italian composer Ottorino Respighi.
