Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, which will once again meet with an impressive soloist at its traditional New Year's concert, will present a programme that combines George Gershwin's timeless works and Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915. The soloist of this evening will be soprano Marlis Petersen. She is renowned for her rare, crystal-clear, and bright voice, and was awarded "Singer of the Year" for the fourth time by Opernwelt magazine for her performance of Marietta at the Bavarian State Opera in the 2019/20 season and won the OPUS KLASSIK as “Female Singer of the Year” (2020), for her album Innenwelt. Listening to Marlis Petersen, an artist known for fully embodying her roles and blending them with her musicality, who has also dedicated herself to the art of lied, in Barber’s work filled with innocence, hope, and excitement, is the perfect way to welcome the new year with music.
