For its eagerly awaited New Year’s Concert that has become a tradition, BIPO will be a morale-booster for all of its listeners with its programme consisting of the most popular works of the classical music repertoire. The soloist of BIPO’s New Year’s celebration is Sergei Dogadin, the winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition, one of the most prestigious competitions in the music world, who received a standing ovation last season for his performances at the Valery Gergiev and Mariinski Theater. Dogadin, who has also met with his audience at remarkable events such as the Rostropovic Festival, Kissinger Sommer and Rheingau Musik, has studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and the International Menuhin Music Academy. Under the direction of Patrick Hahn, BIPO’s New Year’s concert programme will begin with one of Gershwin’s popular orchestral works, Girl Crazy Overture, and end with Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece full of triumph and energy, the 1812 Overture.
