BARTÓK, ENESCU, KODÁLY, MARTINŮ
Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra
Conductor: Carlo Tenan
The CD recording titled Bartók, Enescu, Kodály, Martinů, featuring the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Carlo Tenan, has been released by Onyx. The recording took place in 2024 at the 9.55 Hall of Borusan Oto in İstinye.
The album features Dance Suite, Sz. 77 by Béla Bartók, The Frescoes of Piero della Francesca by Bohuslav Martinů, Galántai táncok (Dances of Galánta) by Zoltán Kodály and 2 Romanian Rhapsodies, op.11, no.1 by George Enescu.
Born outside the traditional musical centres of Europe, these four composers played influential roles both in their home countries and on the international stage. Their music traces the sounds of folk traditions, blending them with contemporary techniques and new forms. Rarely recorded, the works featured here—like the compositional approaches behind them—build a bridge between tradition and modernity, drawing their foundations from folk music.
As outstanding examples of how national identity can be creatively expressed through modern forms, these works are now presented by the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, ready to reach listeners through the universal language of music.
